Stress is THE health crisis of the Western world!
Classed as ‘the health epidemic of the 21st Century” by the World Health Organisation, stress is taking a terrible toll on modern society.
This level of stress is an entirely man made epidemic.
We don’t need to be living like this!
Stress Awareness Month
A few years ago my mother had cancer. She has made a full recovery, but it was very scary to watch her getting so sick and enduring the treatment. The day she had her operation, I went to the hospital with my father to see her. I was full of anxiety and worry, as anyone would be.
Seeing Mum was ok after her operation, knowing that the doctors were happy with the way she was responding to treatment, and feeling confident for perhaps the first time that she would be ok, I felt a tremendous surge of relief burst through my body.
My shoulders suddenly felt as though I had taken a full backpack off them.
I had not realised quite how stressed I was, and what toll it was taking on my body, until I felt so much of it lift that day.
We are SO used to stress that we don’t even notice it, often until we either hit a wall and cannot cope anymore, or it is somehow lifted from us.
If we can notice more, we can do something about it.
April is Stress Awareness Month, a month to pay attention to the stress in our lives, and to look at changes we can make to reduce this stress before it costs us dear.
The Stressed to Serene UnChallenge is going to guide you through a series of practices and reflections that will give you tools to manage and reduce the stress in your life.
Much ofthe stress we experience comes from our own perceptions and reactions to situations.
We don’t tend to recognise that there is another way to deal with these situations, and don’t notice our own reactions.
Through the Stressed to Serene UnChallenge you will learn strategies that will help you
- reframe your reaction and response to external events
- live with a more positive outlook on the world and yourself
- relax your body and mind
- let go of negativity
- appreciate the need for play and self care
- notice and treasure the little things in life
- take action to reduce the sources of stress in your life
- clear physical and emotional clutter
- ….and much more!
By the end of this UnChallenge, I can’t promise that you will have a better job, more money, less debts, more reasonable teenagers or anything else that is currently causing you stress, but you will have a wide range of helpful strategies to help you cope with life’s troubles, and enjoy life more!
It is called an UnChallenge because, while there is work involved, if you incorporate the practices and tools I teach you into your life, you will find life to be a LOT less challenging in the future!
All the techniques I will be teaching you are things I have used in my own journey from Stressed to Serene.
In 2013, a long needed breakdown brought me to my knees. Adrift for 2 decades on a sea of alcohol dependence, anxiety and depression, and a whole host of self destructive behaviours, I had needed a change for a long time. I was forced into it.
Convinced I didn’t need ‘therapy’ or anything of the sort, I decided to train to be a yoga teacher.
This was the best thing I could have ever done.
Through the 13 years of my training I cleared more emotional baggage than 5 years of therapy could have done, quit drinking and smoking, and learned to love myself for the first time ever.
I have had 2 ½ years of sobriety and happiness, and it is all thanks to the tools and practices I am going to share with you in this UnChallenge.
So, if you have ever uttered the phrase ‘I’m SO stressed’, ever struggled to sleep at night, yelled at someone then regretted it 5 minutes later, or reached for a glass of wine to ‘take the edge off’, complete the form below and, starting on April 1, let me guide you on a 30 day journey from Stressed to Serene!
