If you are trying to conquer an addiction or give up something that is harming you (like being on a diet, for example) you will find that there are some powerful voices in your head telling you that you desperately want and NEED the thing you are trying to remove from your life.

Not only that, but those voices will be very seductive and try many ways to convince you that life will be so much easier, so much happier, so much more fun, so much less painful, if only you eat/drink/snort/smoke/do the thing you have decided you need to do without.

These cravings can feel like might powerful things, and you can feel powerless to resist. I know the struggle..despite successfully (finally!) managing to quit cigarettes, drugs and alcohol, I found myself in battle with cravings for coffee….just the smell of it would make me NEED a coffee so bad, and on days when I feel tired, my brain was very good at convincing me that all I needed was a good strong coffee and I would be energised, focused and productive.

The trouble is, the cravings lie. The coffee gives you anxiety and a headache, and the high vanishes pretty quickly. The chocolate leaves you feeling sick, the cigarette makes you cough, the drink gives you a hangover and a profound sense of shame, and so on.

Indulging the cravings can seem like the only thing you can do, but the after effects leave you feeling worse than you did before. And the cycle starts again.

Cravings are nothing more than thoughts and memories. our minds have been programmed to believe that if we do a certain thing when we feel a particular way, we will change the way we feel. While this might be true in the moment, eg, a drink will make you feel more relaxed, in the longer term, the effects are far more negative.

Because these cravings are simply thoughts, they can be mastered. There are many ways you can learn to take control of the thoughts that tell you you NEED xyz in your life.

There are some tips to help you beat the cravings in this blogg post, but if you need more support, read on….

Crush the Craving

If you are struggling to cope with cravings, if you feel that you have no willpower and cannot make the changes you need in your life, I can help.

In a 1 hour session, I can show you some practices and concepts that will help you cope in that moment of craving. These are practices you can use every day to make life less stressful, to be more present, to be more focused on the life you want.

The session costs just £99, and will involve one hour with me through Zoom, and the recording of our conversation will be sent to you afterwards so that you can refer to the practices in your own time. I will work with your specific situation, and offer advice that will work for you in you life where you are now.
